Staffordshire University: Aiming High
For 2009, Staffordshire University is aiming for a 5.5% increase in applications. For that they need to get to the root of what really makes potential students tick.
Courses aside, the important thing for 17 to 18 year old university applicants is what student life offers – location, social life etc. All of which has to be communicated in a way that doesn’t leave them reaching for the next prospectus in the pile.
Online is the ideal channel – it’s where most applicant research is done. So we created a microsite offering a targeted alternative to the uni’s main site. We also used email, web banners and SMS.
A down-to-earth online prospectus.
The resulting site tells applicants what they really want to know, in their own language. Visitors can also have info emailed to them as their own personal prospectus. This, along with an innovative mobile phone music download incentive, meant valuable data was captured, extending dialogue further than just the site itself.
